Gitte Jørgensen: “In recent years, great progress has been made towards equality and inclusion in the construction industry worldwide”

 

Gitte Jørgensen has been part of the Cupa Danmark team for eleven years. She is now Office Manager and handles the administrative tasks of the company, ensuring that all aspects of the office run smoothly, from maintaining staff and equipment, to making accounts and budgets, purchasing slates, internal sales, among other functions.

 

What does the International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is a global day where we celebrate the social, economic and political achievements of women. But more important It’s a day where we draw attention to the inequalities and challenges that unfortunately many women still face around the world.

 

How has the role of women changed in your sector?

Traditionally, the construction industry has been dominated by men and women have had limited opportunities within this sector. However, in recent years, great progress has been made towards equality and inclusion in the construction industry worldwide.

Women’s participation has increased significantly in all aspects of the industry, from design and project management to workplace professional positions, such as tradesmen and contractors.

 

 

Have you ever found any difficulties in your career for being a woman?

I have not faced any difficulties in my career due to my gender. I feel that I always have been professionally accepted and treated equally with my male colleagues.

 

What would you consider to be your most significant contribution to Cupa Danmark?

Through my work and dedication, I was fortunate to be part of the team that turned Cupa Danmark into a very successful business. I provide a positive and knowledgeable service to both my staff and customers. I aim to maintain a happy, educational work environment where everyone feels equal and valued. I am very proud of the company we have become today.
